Not all extensions are the same.
Anyone who has worn them knows it: the point is not only how they look on the day they are applied.
What matters is how they behave over time.
If they become dry, visible or tangled, the quality of the fibre may be one of the causes, but it is not the only one. Method, maintenance, friction, products, heat and everyday habits also affect the result. That is why we created a separate guide explaining why hair extensions tangle.
VELVET was created from this idea: to choose systems with clearly stated technical characteristics and explain honestly what can influence their performance.
Remy: a technical characteristic, not a magic word
In VELVET lines where it is specified, Remy construction means that the hair cuticles are aligned in the same direction. This is an important characteristic for smoothness and manageability, but it does not make an extension immune to dryness, tangling or poor maintenance.

Thin attachments, but appropriate to the method
A well-constructed system should blend with natural hair without creating unnecessary bulk, but the structure of the attachment varies considerably between micro-rings, keratin bonds, tape-ins, wefts and clip-ins.
For this reason, VELVET does not treat every system as interchangeable: weight, attachment size, distribution and maintenance frequency must be assessed in relation to the natural base and the desired result.
Processing and fibre finish
Extensions may receive different processing and finishes depending on the line and colour. When a specific characteristic is stated on a product page, it should be considered together with the maintenance instructions provided for that product.
No coating or treatment makes hair unaffected by aggressive washing, high temperatures or repeated chemical treatments. The fibre still needs to be managed correctly.
Longevity is not a universal promise
Method, colour, washing frequency, heat, products used, maintenance and whether the system can be repositioned all affect its actual lifespan.
