Human hair can be styled, but it is not indestructible. Extensions no longer receive sebum and protection from the scalp in the same way as growing hair, so repeated high temperatures can progressively dry out the lengths.
What is the right temperature?
There is no single temperature that is correct for every extension and every tool. The safest rule is to use the lowest temperature that achieves the desired result, avoiding unnecessary repeated passes over the same section.
Finer, lightened or already sensitised hair requires even more caution. A temperature tolerated by thick, dark natural hair is not automatically suitable for very light or processed extension lengths.
Why should the attachments be avoided?
Because straighteners do not meet hair alone. Depending on the method, they may also come into contact with keratin, adhesive, TPU, stitching or mechanical components. Applying intense heat directly to these areas may alter or stress materials that do not need to be heated during everyday styling.
