Bridal extensions should be chosen with the hairstyle, rather than added at the last moment. Soft updos, full ponytails and loose waves need different volume placement. A trial checks how the system blends with your hair and the planned look.
Bring reference images, accessory details and realistic preferences for aftercare. Sometimes fuller lengths or a ponytail matter more than maximum length.
Decide where volume is needed
For loose hair, blending matters; a half-up style also needs coverage over the bases. A ponytail must suit the position of the tie. Your stylist should assess starting length, density, cut and concealment of attachments. An inspiration photo does not reveal the original hair or construction.
Clip-ins or fixed systems?
VELVET Seamless clip-ins can be considered for occasional use, with application and removal around the event. They still need sufficient hair to support and conceal them, and their position should be tested with the complete style.
A fixed system may suit everyday wear if you accept checks, maintenance and professional removal. A long wedding day alone is not the reason to choose it. Read fixed versus clip-in extensions.
Check colour and texture
Match the visible hair, especially mid-lengths and ends. Balayage may need more than one shade. VELVET Chart lets the stylist compare physical swatches in the same light.
If you plan a colour change, agree when the final match should be decided. Do not assume any mismatch can be corrected by dyeing the extensions; possibilities depend on the product and previous processing. Test the intended texture and styling too.
Bring the veil and accessories
Where available, include the veil, clips and ornaments in the trial. Check attachment points, coverage and removal. Ask for front, side and rear views. Move your head and assess comfort; pulling means the positioning needs review.
Agree on the timing
Allow enough time to check availability, colour and possible changes. Your salon can decide whether to test alternatives and when to fit fixed extensions around other services. There is no universal number of days before the wedding: timing depends on the system, hair and salon. Discuss checks if you will travel afterwards.
Questions for the trial
- Do I need length, volume or both?
- Will the system stay concealed with the updo and accessories?
- Which services are included?
- Who will fit and remove the extensions?
- What care will I need afterwards?
Remove clip-ins before sleeping. Follow professional instructions for fixed systems and read sleeping with extensions.
