A useful extension consultation ends with a clear project: the desired result, possible system, care requirements and checks before ordering. A client record preserves these decisions and supports consistent applications and follow-up.
Record what changes the project, separating the client's wishes from what their natural hair can support.
Start with the goal
“More hair” may mean length, fuller ends, side volume or upper coverage. Ask where the client wants change and what a satisfactory result means. Reference photos are inspiration, not a promise of an identical outcome. Note priorities such as length, volume placement, tying the hair up and everyday or occasional use.
Record the natural base
Observe starting length, cut, density by area and coverage for concealing attachments. A full back section may coexist with sparse sides; “fine hair” alone does not describe this. Note reported recent treatments and areas requiring care. Keep observations within professional competence; postpone a project if it cannot be assessed confidently.
Make colour and texture repeatable
Compare physical swatches in the same light. With VELVET Chart, record codes and the distribution of multiple shades. Avoid relying on memory or filtered photographs. Note natural texture and usual styling, since the result must work at home. See choosing extension colour.
Explain the system selection
Record why you considered the method suitable. VELVET Bridge micro rings, VELVET Fusion keratin and VELVET Tape have different planning and maintenance needs.
Record intended quantity and distribution without treating one weight as universal. VELVET Fusion nano-keratin specifies approximately 0.5 g strands; suitability still depends on assessing the natural hair.
Agree on care and follow-up
Ask about drying, updos, care time and routine difficulties. Explain professional maintenance and removal for fixed systems. Specify which services the quotation includes and what will be assessed separately. Link to care instructions and maintenance planning, setting appointments for the actual application.
A practical record
- Consultation date and agreed goal.
- Length, density and coverage by area.
- Colour codes, texture and length.
- Method, quantity, distribution and reasons.
- Routine, instructions and proposed checks.
- Quotation, included services and outstanding checks.
Update the same record at follow-up with reported comfort, condition and work performed. This also helps another team member follow the service.
Professionals can compare systems and apply through VELVET Partner. Collaboration terms are agreed after application assessment.
